The Origin Story

Mainor Group, which celebrated its 50th anniversary a few years ago, spearheaded the creation of the university.

Throughout its more than 30-year history, over 6,400 specialists have graduated from the EUAS, with approximately 500 completing their studies at Tartu Educational Center. Many of the early graduates have gone on to hold prominent positions as parliamentarians, community leaders, and successful entrepreneurs.

Notable alumni of the Mainor School of Economics include Einar Vallbaum, elder of Lääne-Viru County, politicians such as Rannar Vassiljev, Kajar Lember, and Terje Trei, as well as Colonel Villar Šift, former Mayor of Tartu Urmas Kruuse, and Madis Müller, the former President of the Bank of Estonia.

The Tartu campus of the EUAS commenced operations in February 1997. Initially situated on Kreutzwaldi Street, it enrolled 36 students in Business Management in its first year. By the autumn of the academic year 1997-98, two study groups were formed in Tartu – focusing on business management and finance management – accompanied by supplementary training. Subsequently, in 1998, a psychology study group was introduced.

As student numbers rocketed, the university relocated to more capacious premises by 2000. On April 27, 2001, the cornerstone was laid for the school's dedicated educational building.
