The Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences and Magnetic MRO are collaborating to develop a new bachelor's degree program for aviation technicians!
02.07.2024

Magnetic MRO, a rapidly growing international aviation company that is based in Estonia, has signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding with the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (EEK Mainor) and the Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI) in Riga to develop a curriculum aimed at aviation technicians.

"This strategic collaboration is a proactive step towards solving the current workforce challenges in aviation," said Jan Kotka, COO of Magnetic MRO. "We are combining practical experience from Magnetic MROs with the academic strengths of EEK Mainor and TSI. By that, we are creating, a future-oriented curriculum that will equip the next generation of aviation technicians with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in this dynamic industry."

Magnetic MRO will be involved in curriculum development and supervise practical tasks. The Transport and Telecommunication Institute concentrates on aviation-related topics, and EEK Mainor is responsible for the overall curriculum for the bachelor's degree. The three-year English program will be hosted at the Ülemiste City University campus. The partnership aims to offer collaborative bachelor's degrees both EEK Mainor and the Transport and Telecommunication Institute.

"International cooperation is a key factor for Estonia's economy," said Andrus Pedai, Rector of the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences. "Magnetic MRO is an outstanding example of an international company that attracts global talent and supports exporting Estonia’s high-tech products. EEK Mainor is delighted to be involved in this collaboration to launch the Magnetic Academy and the aviation technician curriculum."

This motivation for this program comes from Magnetic Academy’s aim to train 60 to 100 new aviation technicians over the next few years. The new bachelor's degree should start in the 2025/2026 academic year, depending on funding agreements.

"This strategic partnership doesn’t only meet the urgent need for skilled aviation technicians but also strengthens Estonia's position in the global high-tech and aviation sector," noted Kotka.
